I was born in Germany and lived there until I was two years old. When I was two, my family moved to Alexandria, Virginia. My father was in the Air Force, and when I was in the 6th grade, he retired and moved back home to Athens, Georgia. I attended Burney Harris Middle School and I graduated from Clarke Central High School. I received my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia and my Master’s Degree in Education from Piedmont College. I have taught at Barrow School since 1990. I am married, and I have two sons. The fabulous first grade team nominated me for a Foundation for Excellence award, and I am excited to share with you that I am a 2015 Foundation for Excellence award winner for Seasoned Teacher.
I enjoy teaching through hands and real world experiences. I believe in building trusting relationships where students and families know that I have the student’s best interest in mind at all times. I realize that teaching is a privilege as well as a tremendous responsibility. Each day, I strive to do my best to ensure that each child experiences academic success in a stimulating and safe learning environment. |
